Onam rebate for khadi products

KOCHI: This years Onam festival season sales under the Khadi and Village Industries Board will be inaugurated here on Monday by the Ernakulam district panchayat president P.S. Shyla. Khadi Board member T. L. Mani will preside at the inaugural function, being organised at the Khadi Tower, Kaloor, from 10.30 a.m., said a press release here. Urban Affairs Standing Committee Chairman of the Council of the Corporation of Cochin K.V. Manoj will inaugurate the coupon distribution.

Khadi Board secretary P. Somarajan Pillai will inaugurate the sales. Khadi Board Member U. Babu Gopinath, Khadi Board Director P. Ajayakumar and Project Officer R. Sreekumar are among those scheduled to participate in the inaugural function.

Meanwhile, the government has announced the Onam rebate for khadi products. Cotton and spun silk products will come with a 30 per cent discount while silk and woollen products will come with a 20 per cent discount, the press release said.

The rebates will be available on products being sold at the showrooms under the Khadi Board and at the temporary stall set up at the Ernakulathappan Grounds between July 20 and August 21, the press release added.
