CPI-M IUML clash trigger tension

KOZHIKODE: At least a dozen people were injured, including a woman, and several houses damaged in a clash involving CPI (M) and IUML activists at Thodannur near Vatakara in the district, police said.

A complaint filed by an IUML leader said some persons belonging to CPIM attacked some Youth League activists when they were playing cricket near Thodannur Sunday evening.

Minutes later, a group of suspected IUML workers attacked houses of two CPI-M activists, triggering tension in the area.

Additional police forces have been deployed in the area, police said.

Police have registered two cases including attempt to murder in connection with the incident.

IUML is observing a hartal in Thodannur town Monday to protest the attack.
