Leopard trapped residential area

KANNUR: A leopard which strayed into a residential locality near Azhikal beach here was trapped Friday by forest department personnel.

Acting on complaints from the locals about the movement of a wild animal, the forest officials traced the footprint marks of the man-eater and placed a cage with a bait in the area Thursday night and the leopard was trapped Friday morning, Forest Range officer M P Prabhakaran said.

A large number of people from various parts of the town gathered at the spot to have a glimpse of the caged leopard.
