Strike enters third day at Medical College Hospital at capital city

TPURAM: The continuing strike by junior doctors and house-surgeons of the Medical College Hospital here affected the functioning of the hospital on Sunday also. Only emergency surgeries were carried out.

Most of the patients at wards are vacating. Meantime, a patient named Raghunadan (70) of Ambalathara who has been under treatment at ward number 16 died.

The irate relatives of the deceased patient made uproars at the hospital on Sunday. There are allegations that the relatives attacked the doctors on duty and caused damages at the wards. At the same time, the hospital authorities said the patient died of cardiac arrest.

This is the third day of the strike. Even then the state government has not interfered in the issue. Protesting against the inactiveness on the part of the government, the doctors at the Medical College Hospital under the aegis of KGMCT will boycott the OP for two hours today.
