Toilet facilities: Ombudsman cautions Corporation officials

Kozhikode:The Ombudsman for Local Self-Government Institutions has said that Corporation officials will have to pay damages from their own pockets if they failed to take action within two weeks to provide toilet facilities to women in the city.

In his order, issued on a petition filed by K.S. Jayasree, general secretary of Sree Chetana, Ombudsman M.R. Hariharan Nair said on Wednesday that damages would have to be paid by the Corporation Secretary, the Health Officer and the Engineer.

In the petition filed before the first sitting of the Ombudsman, Dr. Jayasree had pointed out that four toilets situated at Mananchira, S.M. Street, Palayam bus-stand and mofussil bus-stand were unfit for use.
