Russian vessel calls at Kochi

KOCHI: Russian Federation Naval ship RFNS Moskva, a Guided Missile Cruiser, arrived at the harbour here Friday on a three-day visit.

The ship is commanded by Captain Ist Rank Sergey Ivanovich Tronev and has 51 officers and 464 enlisted men. Captain Ist Rank Igor Vladimirovich Smolyak, Deputy Commander of the Naval Formation Black Sea Fleet, is also onbaord the ship, Naval sources said.

INS Bangaram received the Russian visitor at the entrance of the harbour.

Several professional and social activities have been lined up before the ship departs for Vladivostok, a Russian port city, on May 2.

Russian Consular General at Chennai, Russian Military Attache to India, Colonel K M Vasiliev and senior officiers of the visiting ships called on Vice Admiral K N Sushil, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of Southern Naval Command.
