Placement offer for 90 % of MEC students

KOCHI: The Model Engineering College (MEC) at Thrikkakara beat recession blues when 90 per cent of the B.Tech. students ( May 2010 pass-out) on the campus were extended around 201 offers by the who-is-who of the Indian industry.

The young techies posted an impressive placement record this year signalling the revival of campus recruitment after a bad patch triggered by global recession. Elaborating on MECs placement achievements, V. K. Jayasree, placement officer and faculty member, told The Hindu that Infosys and TCS extended the highest number of offers to the students.

Infosys made 46 offers while TCS extended 30 offers. MindTree came third when it gave 15 offers to the B. Tech. graduates. Other companies that offered placements were CGI (11); Deloitte (11), Yahoo (10 internship); Bosch (8); Cordys (7); Wipro VLSI (7); and Poornam (8), she said
