Postgraduate classes likely to begin on August 30

KOCHI: Mahatma Gandhi University is likely to start its postgraduate classes for 2010-11 from August 30 onwards after the completion of the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP).

It is for the first time that the university is adopting the CAP procedure for admission to its postgraduate programmes. CAP will be applicable for all its postgraduate programmes offered through the government, aided and self-financing colleges affiliated to it for the new academic year.

Stating that the university is preparing the schedule for CAP by setting August 30, as the likely date for beginning the postgraduate classes, Rajan Varughese, Pro-Vice Chancellor, told The Hindu here on Saturday that the university will soon sign an agreement with LBS Centre for Science and Technology for ensuring the smooth conduct of CAP. LBS will provide the technical support for CAP, he said.

Pointing out that there will be two stages in the submission of applications, both of which are mandatory, Dr. Varughese said that it include online submission of personal and academic data as well as options for courses and colleges; and submission of the manually filled in application form (obtained from the centres prescribed in the prospectus) with all necessary supporting documents.

Candidates should visit the web site www.mguniversity.edu for online registration. They should click the link �Admission to PG Degree Course 2010. A candidate must have his or her application number and security key to submit personal and academic data online. He or she will have to initially log on to the website using the �application number and �security key. Then the candidate will have to create and submit a �password that must be made up of numerals or alphabets or a combination of both.
