Role of Computer in Orthopaedic Surgery

Computer in medical practice is used as a tool for attaining precise and perfect end results, to eliminate the �human error and for ease of surgery. CAOS (computer assisted orthopaedic surgery is gaining popularity in the orthopaedic world. Commonly called as navigation, the functioning is similar to GPS (global positioning system) in aerospace technology. Use of instrument landing system is helpful to pilots for landing in adverse climatic conditions. Similarly use of computer navigation helps the Ortho Surgeon to tackle difficult situations in surgery.

Computer assisted surgery is most commonly used in Total Knee Replacement and spine.
