Thiruvananthapuram: A benign, silent presence, she has presided over the sprawling school grounds for a century. Her green canopy has provided a cool shade to generations of students.
On Friday, the majestic 100-year-old teak tree on the premises of SMV Government Model Higher Secondary School was honoured with the title of �Vriksha Sree.
The title was conferred on the tree by Forest Minister Benoy Viswom who put up a board on it.
The Minister also inaugurated a scheme to set up farm and environment clubs in schools.
