KOCHI: Chief Minister V. S. Achuthandanan has urged the student community to actively participate in the tree planting campaign aimed at checking the impacts of climate change.
Addressing hundreds of students who turned up to participate in the tree planting campaign organised by the Aluva-based Association for Environment Protection at the Aluva guest house in connection with the World Environment Day programmes, Mr. Achuthandnan said that climate change has become a major problem affecting the lives of people across the globe.
The Chief Minister exhorted the students to plant more trees, as it would help in protecting the environment.
Mr. Achuthanandan also planted a sapling on the occasion.
Forest Minister Benoy Viswom inaugurated the silver jubilee celebrations of the association on the occasion.
V. D. Satheesan, MLA, delivered the environment day message.
