THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Agriculture Department proposes to increase paddy cultivation in the plains from 1,000 hectares last year to 6,000 hectares this year. The department has earmarked a sum of Rs.3 crore for the purpose. It has asked those concerned to raise paddy in at least one hectare of land in each block under the scheme.
