Thiruvananthapuram: The All India Ration Dealers Association has demanded that the government conduct a survey for identifying middle-class families and offer them food grain and ration at subsidised rates.
The association said there were lakhs of families who had been included in the APL category but were facing great difficulties owing to price rise. These families did not get any subsidies or the benefits of any scheme announced by the Centre.
The needs of and the problems faced by the middle class should not be ignored, it said. A rally led by the association, raising these demands, that was flagged off from Neyyattinkara will reach Delhi on April 20. The rally was inaugurated at Neyyattinkara by Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy
