Duty hours fixed for paramedical staff

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has issued orders fixing the duty hours of paramedical staff under the Health Department and the Directorate of Medical Education as eight-hour daily shifts. They will work on eight-hour shifts, totalling 48 hours a week. In hospitals, where casualty and emergency wings are functioning, all staff should be available on call round-the clock. At PHCs which are open from 8 a.m. till 4 p.m. on all seven days of the week, the staff will work on one shift.
