Veda mantra training camp held

KOCHI: A camp to train children in veda mantras was held in Thripunithura by Thulu Brahmana Yogam, a unit affiliated to Udupi Madwa Brahmana Sabha in association with Sree Raghavendra Trust and Sree Poornaprajna Vidyapeetom.

Students from various parts of the State participated in this camp that was held under the Gurukula tradition. Classes began for the students every day at 5 a.m. and went on till 9 p.m. In the week-long camp that began last Sunday, the 18 students were given training in Sandhya Vandanam, Salagrama Puja, Sookthas and yoga among other ritualistic aspects. Vedic scholar K. Narayana Bhat led the classes with support from scholars like Sudarsana Bhat, Venkitakrishna Bhat and Vishnuprasad Bhat. Besides vedic mantras, the students were also given training in personality development, health and hygiene practices and cultural heritage
