Film fete for football lovers

KOCHI: The football fever is gripping the city. With the Fifa World Cup just days away, all talk end in football these days. Right from passionate discussions on whether cable wars would deny them the chance to see the action live to ongoing practice matches.

And for those die-hard fans, the Chavara Cultural Centre is offering a feast, of different sort. The centre will organise a Football Film Festival this weekend.

The first film to be screened at the festival is Gods of Brazil Pele and Garrincha, which is an analyses using archive footage of the careers of two legends. While Pele went on to stake his claim to the pedestal of worlds best footballer, Garrincha, whom many rate as more talented than Pele, died as a broken alcoholic at the age of 49.
