Women\'s panel offers help to Sampath\'s kin

KOCHI: The Kerala State Womens Commission has offered help to rehabilitate the impoverished widow of Sampath, who allegedly died in police custody at Palakkad on March 30, and his two babies.

Commission chairperson D. Sreedevi told The Hindu that the commission could take care of Sampaths wife Saritha and the two children, aged two-and-a-half years and two-and-a-half months. The three could be accommodated at the commissions short-stay facility in Thiruvananthapuram and also take special care of the babies. She said the commission was unable to pay any money to her, but could talk to other government authorities if they could do something about it.
