Fuel Price: CPI-M to Hold Rally in Delhi; Strike in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI-M Kerala state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan Sunday urged all sections of people to support the strike call for March 2 by transport workers unions against petroleum price hike.

In a statement here, he said the strike should send a \"strong signal\" to the union government, whose budget proposals would impose a heavy burden on the common man.

The proposals would mainly affect consumer states like Kerala and would lead to inflation. The Centre was in the process of cutting subsidies and withdrawing from welfare sectors to pursue its policies of globalisation and privatisation, he alleged.

He said the centre, through its budget, had declared a war on the people of Kerala by turning a blind eye to the justifiable demands of the state. Even UPA partners had come out against the budget proposals, the statement said.
