NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Monday rejected Tamil Nadus plea seeking to recall the order appointing an Empowered Committee to go into the safety of the Mullaperiyar dam on the ground that it has far-reaching implications in law.
Rejecting the plea, the court ordered to constitute a five-member panel before April 30. The court severely criticized centres directive asking the state governments to bear the expenses of constructing a new dam.
The court denied K Parasarans, who appeared for Tamil Nadu, statement that the court has given the full power to the high level panel. The court said top priority is given to the safety of the people.
