National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India will enter into the Gulf and European markets with food products catering to the Indian diaspora.
We have decided to source India-specific products, process and package and export them to the Gulf and Europe. We will be sending quality products at affordable prices, Nafed Managing Director C V Ananda Bose said.
Nafed will export Kerala-specific products to the Gulf using the Kochi Port, as a large number of Keralaites live in the region. The first shipment is likely in two months.
The cooperative was in advanced stages of negotiation with traders to market India-specific products in the European market, Bose said, adding that depending upon the demand and requirement, a variety of products would be chosen and sent from different parts of the country.
We want to cater to both retail chains and food service companies in these two markets, Bose said.
