New IG takes charge in Kannur

KANNUR: Inspector General of Police (Kannur Range) Sudhesh Kumar took charge at the IGs Office here on Wednesday.

Mr. Kumar, who is a 1987 batch IPS officer, replaces Tomin J. Thachankary, who was placed under suspension for going abroad allegedly without taking the governments permission.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Kumar said he was confident he could perform his duties with the full co-operation of the people. His experience of serving in the district as police officer earlier would also stand him in good stead, he added.

District Superintendent of Police K.P. Philip was also present when Mr. Kumar took charge. Mr. Kumar had earlier served as IG State Crime Records Bureau.
