A day after he was forced to tender his resignation in the backdrop of the IPL bidding controversy, former minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor told Parliament on Tuesday that he had requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to thoroughly get charges against him investigated as he had done nothing improper or unethical.
Turning down suggestions by the Congress leadership that perhaps it was best for him to remain quiet, Tharoor decided to place on record his stand on the matter by reading his statement in the Lok Sabha. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had on Monday asserted that a minister who stepped down had a right to explain his position in Parliament if he wished to do so.
