Bhubaneswar: Condoling the death of octogenarian RSS veteran and social activist Nanaji Deshmukh, Jual Oram the State President of the BJP described the departed soul as the last Gandhian after JP and Vinoba Bhave who had dedicated his entire life for peoples service by chosing village as the focus for \"total revolution\" in India. He was among first few to respond to JPs call for Total Revolution\" that unseated Indira Gandhi government and heralded a new trend of non-congress government at the centre.
He concentrated on rural education, health and agrarian development and made Chitrakut an ideal for such experimentation. Jual Oram recalled his visit to Chitrakut while as a Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, and praised Nanaji for having materialised \"Gram Swaraj\" as contemplated by Mahatma Gandhi. Nanaji was a pioneer of Saraswati Sishu Mandir concept and first established its kind in 1950 in Uttar Pradesh.
He was a contemporary of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay in whose name he established a Research Institute dedicated to advanced research on rural sociology and economy. Jual Oram also referred to the Chitrakut Gramodya University, the first rural centre for university education in India in which Nanaji was its first Chancellor.
Recalling the extra-ordinary organizing capacity of the veteran RSS Pracharak, Jual termed him as the architect of Bharatiya Janasangha in Uttar Pradesh which laid the base for latter day BJP that came to power in recent years. He represented the last few dedicated sons of Mother India for whom politics and social activism were more a life mission rather than a profession. He shall remain a legendary example in the field of social activism in modern India for generations to emulate, Jual said.
