KOZHIKODE: The Civil Station will turn plasticfree from April 1, said District Collector P.B. Salim here on Monday.
Speaking at a seminar for mediapersons, organised jointly by the Information and Public Relations Department and the District Sanitation Mission, Dr. Salim also announced that a garbage disposal plant equipped to process liquid and solid waste would be installed at the Civil Station.
The sanitation campaign on the Civil Station premises would be thorough. The duty of keeping the toilets clean would be entrusted to sweepers. The name and contact telephone number of the employee responsible for keeping the toilets clean would be displayed.
To ensure participation of the employees, union leaders would be included in the monitoring committee to be constituted shortly.
Dr. Salim said boards indicating the services available from village offices and other offices of the Revenue Department would be displayed in front of the office concerned. He hoped these measures would help in keeping government offices clean and more people-friendly.
