KOZHIKODE: The Muslim League Tuesday gave up the claim of a Rajya Sabha seat from the state. Instead they expressed their desire to get one from any other state. The League changed their stand as A K Antony wants to be re-elected from Kerala. Not only that the Congress is firm in fielding Antony in this seat.
The League has a presence in the Rajya Sabha for 42 years. In the meet held Monday, party general secretary P K Kunhalikutty said there was no questing of giving up the claim for the Rajya Sabha seat.
IUML leaders were aware of the difficulties that the Congress would face if it was to allot the seat to the IUML, instead of its own candidate Antony.
