Campaign to clean water tanks in schools

Kozhikode: The youth wing of the Muslim Educational Society (MES) launched a voluntary campaign to clean the drinking water tanks at the government schools in the city on Sunday.

Nine tanks were cleaned on Sunday. The campaign was inaugurated by City Police Commissioner P. Vijayan. M.E.S youth wing state secretary A.T.M. Asharaf and district president T.P.M. Sajal Muhammed were present.

Youth wing district secretary K. Hashim said most of the drinking water tanks on the school premises here were in unhealthy condition and required cleaning before the schools reopened on June 1. He said students using water from these tanks might face health hazards.

We held this campaign to remind authorities about the urgent need to clean the drinking water tanks in schools before the new academic year, said Mr. Hashim
