College teachers to get new UGC scale

TPURAM: College teachers in Kerala would new UGC scales with retrospective effect from January 2006, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said Thursday.

The decision would put an additional burden of Rs 400 crore on the state government, he told reporters here after a cabinet meeting.

The arrears from January 2006 and 2010 would be paid to them once the 80 per cent grant from the central government was made available, he said. The teachers would be given the new salary from April this year, he said.
