Thrissur: The government on Wednesday started removing earth from converted agricultural land at Chandippuli in Koorkkenchery village. The district administration had issued orders to remove earth following a controversy over the conversion of about 26 acres of paddy fields at Chandippuli. The issue was raised by V.S. Sunil Kumar, MLA, and Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan had reportedly intervened
A team, led by Revenue Divisional Officer C.V. Sajan and Thrissur tahsildar K. Muralidharan, implemented the Collectors orders. Three excavators and seven vehicles are being used. �About 100 loads of earth excavated so far will be used for government works. Earth to be removed on Thursday will be given to the Public Works Department, Kerala Land Development Corporation, Nirmithy Kendra and panchayats. The request of the Railways for earth is also under consideration, Mr. Sajan said.
