Thrissur: Apollo Tyres factory at Perambra on Friday declared lock-out following labour unrest.
The management, two days ago, announced no-work, no-pay in the factory following a go-slow agitation by the workers demanding long-term settlement negotiations.
The unit provides employment to 2,500 regular workers.
While the management complained a drop in production due to labour unrest, the workers alleged that lack of sufficient number of labourers was the reason for low production. The workers also protested against employing contract labourers in the factory.
The talks between the management and labour unions held on Monday in the presence of the Labour Minister failed to reach any decision.
The factory had been declaring lock-out for the ninth time.
