Ex-CISF hand held for Kingfisher bomb planting

TPURAM: Kerala Police Sunday arrested a former employee of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), currently serving in a private cargo firm here, for placing a crude bomb on a Kingfisher flight at Thiruvananthapuram March 21. They refused to reveal the motive behind the crime at this juncture.

Rajasekharan, 49, who works as a supervisor with the firm that handles cargo for all Kingfisher flights here, was present at a press conference here where Inspector General of Police A. Hemachandran announced his formal arrest in the evening.

We cannot reveal the motive of the crime at this juncture, Hemachandran said, adding that Rajasekharan, who lives in Thiruvananthapuram, has confessed to the crime.

The crude bomb device was found in the cargo section of the Kingfisher plane after it landed in Thiruvananthapuram from Bangalore last Sunday. The flight had 27 passengers and four crew members.

After the passengers and the crew deplaned, a routine security check of the aircraft led to the detection of the crude bomb wrapped in a school question paper and a Malayalam newspaper. in the cargo hold of the plane.
