Man gets seven years\' jail term for rape

KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode Principal Sub-Judge Court here, on Saturday, sentenced a man to seven years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.15,000 for raping and impregnating a construction worker five-and-a-half years ago.Writing the judgment, Judge K.P. John found Pannikode Parambil Prabakaran, 35, guilty of raping the 30-year-old construction worker at Kodiyattor in the district on October 3, 2004.The victim, who had become pregnant, had filed a private petition before the Thamarassery Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. The court had then directed the Mukkom police to investigate and register a case.
