TPURAM: Janata Dal (S) Senior Vice-President Dr Varughese George Sunday demanded a judicial probe into alleged corruption in some of the departments in the state in the backdrop of mutual accusations by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and Transport Minister Jose Thettatyil.
Since the Chief Minister and Transport Minister were making charges of corruption in various departments, the ideal course was to order a judicial probe.
Achuthanandan had reportedly alleged at an LDF state liaison committee meeting recently that the Motor Vehicles Department was steeped in corruption.
Reacting to that, Thettayil, who belongs to Janat Dal (Gowda faction), said corruption was prevalent not only in Motor Vehicles Department but in most departments, including police and taxation.
George, in a statement, said the government should follow the precedence of 1969 EMS Namboodiripad Government when the ministers belonging to different constituents of the then coalition stepping down to face probe.
