Action plan to develop agriculture

PALAKKAD: An action plan to develop agriculture in Attappady will be taken up under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at a cost of Rs.64 crore.

The scheme will be implemented through the �Oorukuttams (hamlet groups) of 154 tribal hamlets in the Attappady tribal block of Mannarkkad taluk.

Under the scheme, 10,393 projects will be implemented in the three panchayats, Pudur, Sholayur and Agali, of the Attappady block.

Block programme officer P.V. Radhakrishnan said an amount of Rs.22 crore would be spent for irrigation and development of tribal land.
