Rubber Board to organise growers\' meet

Kottayam: The Rubber Board will be conducting a growers conference at the Rubber Research Institute of India, Kottayam, on June 25.

The conference is intended to create a platform for compiling the experience of growers, who have either successfully adopted indigenous knowledge to suit rubber cultivation or successfully conducted their own trials in farms, thereby creating new models.

This interactive conference will be attended by growers as well as scientists and extension officers of the board.

The exercise started a year ago when innovative growers were identified through nearly 3,500 group meetings spread across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.Last December, at zonal conferences held at Kottayam, Muvattupuzha, Kottarakkara, Nilambur and Taliparamba, these growers presented their innovations before the scientists and extension officers of the board.

Nearly 25 growers selected from these conferences will present papers at the conference on June 25.
