KOCHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open Universitys (IGNOU) Institute of Professional Competency Advancement of Teachers (IIPCAT) has come up with several programmes aimed at stepping up professional development of teachers.
The mission of IIPCAT includes competency advancement of teachers of all levels using multi-media technology. K.S. Divakaran Nair, Regional Director of IGNOU, said that the institute intends to develop itself as an effective vehicle to transform the role of teachers in educational institutions from being mere transmitters of information to facilitators of learning and construction of knowledge by students.
�To accomplish this mission, the IIPCAT will use multiple strategies such as organisation of in-service education, preparation of quality reference material and organisation of practical training in ICT and other relevant areas, Dr. Nair said
