KOCHI: Opening up Indias higher education sector would enable foreign universities to offer their courses here, thus contributing to enhancing the quality of education in the country, British Deputy High Commissioner in India Mike Nithavrianakis has said.
Participating in an interactive programme organised here by the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said there is plenty of scope for India and the U.K. to intensify cooperation in the education sector. There was a time when Indians studying in the U.K. were too focused on the MBA course. This trend is changing now.
He said that India was less affected by the economic crisis because of a relatively conservative banking sector. Urging more Indians to invest in the U.K., he said that his country has a system to help investors identify a location, to inform them about the tax system and labour rules. Kerala has the potential to attract investments in tourism, ports and IT, he said
