THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rainfall during the monsoon so far has been very close to the long-term average level over Kerala, according to the Meteorology Centre here.
Against a long-term average of 486.9 mm of rainfall for the period from June 1 to June 23, the State received an area weighted rainfall of 469.1 mm this time, the departure from normal being just four per cent on the deficit side. Six districts received above normal rainfall: Kozhikode recorded 769.4 mm of rainfall against a normal of 666.6 mm (15 per cent excess), Kasaragod 811.2 mm against 738.3 mm (10 per cent excess), Idukki 546.3 mm against 507.4 mm (eight per cent excess), Palakkad 373.2 mm against 353.7 mm (five per cent excess), Ernakulam 584.9 mm against 566.6 mm (three per cent excess) and Malappuram 475.5 mm against 471.6 mm (one per cent excess).
