Thiruvananthapuram: The first Karikkakathamma Award instituted by the Karikkakam Sri Chamundi Temple Trust has gone to singer K.J. Yesudas.
Office-bearers of the trust told a press conference here on Wednesday that Mr.Yesudas was selected for the award for his contribution to the world of music. The award consists of a purse of Rs.10,001, citation and a statuette.
The award will be given away at a meeting to be held on the temple grounds on March 21, the first day of the week-long annual Pongala festival of the temple.
