Volvo, private buses collide

.KOCHI: A KSRTC Volvo bus on Tuesday collided with a private bus which halted abruptly to pick a passenger at Pandikudi on Tuesday, police said. The driver of the private bus Jayaraj, 30, was arrested under Section 279 of the IPC for rash driving, police said.

The private bus which overtook the KSRTC bus at high speed halted suddenly leading to the mishap, police said. However, no body was injured.

The KSRTC bus was operating on the Fort Kochi-Nedumbassery route while the private bus was conducting service between Kochi and Perumbadappu.

District Transport Officer Jayaraj said that an amount of Rs 80,000 would be needed to repair the bus
