TV channel journalists attacked
KOCHI: A journalist and cameraman of a Malayalam television channel were reportedly attacked while they were covering the CPI-M agitation against price rise near here Friday.
In a release, N Srinath, Secretary, Ernakulam Press Club, said that B J Pradeep, special correspondent and Sherin Joy, the cameraman of Jeevan TV channel, were shooting the agitation against price rise on the main road at Kothamangalam junction and this had provoked CPIM activists.
The attack occurred in front of the police and the cassette was taken away forcibly, he said.
This was the second time such attacks on journalists were taking place while discharging their duties, he said.
He also demanded that Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, IG B Sandhya and Aluva Rural SP Vikram take stringent action against those involved in the attack.
Ernakulam Press Club and District Unit of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists protested the attack.
