THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said fiscal consolidation measures would get a huge boost if the state was able to achieve two objectives.
One, net Rs 400 crore from the sale of sand dredged from Malampuzha, Chulliyar and Neyyar dams within the next two months, before the rains.
Two, issue an official order this March itself to regularise the conversion of paddy land in revenue records prior to 2008.
``If this happens, I assure the members in this august House that there would be no dearth of funds for their constituency- related projects, Isaac said while replying to the general discussion on the budget in the Assembly on Wednesday.
``Fees will be levied on the basis of newly-fixed fair value.
By conversion of such land the owners of the property have made consider- a b l e gain. Part of such economic gain will be mobilised for public good,�� Isaac said about the regularisation scheme in the budget. About gains from dam de-silting, Isaac said this scheme could be expanded to the level of extracting 30,000 to 40,000 cubic metres of sand and silt per day before May 2010
