Private Bus strike withdrawn

TPURAM: The private bus strike intended to be launched on March 11 has been withdrawn after talks between Transport Minister Jose Thettayil and the co-ordination committee of private bus owners.

A decision to formulate a regulatory commission, comprising four members including a representative of the government, to study the problems of bus owners was taken in the meeting.

The regulatory commission would hand over the report to the government detailing reasons whether the bus charge should be hiked or not.
