TPURAM: Blaming the policies of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre for the price rise, CPI-M workers in Kerala Monday staged protests before central government offices across the state.
Addressing the sit-in before the General Post Office here, CPI-M state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said the Governments move to do away with the rationing system would have serious consequences in the country.
There were clear indications in the Union budget that the Centre was now moving to do away with the Public Distribution System, he alleged.
This would not only push vast majority into misery but also lead to serious food insecurity in the country, he said.
The five-day protest was addressed by the party leaders in other parts of the state.
Hundreds of party workers, including women, participated in the protests
