KOZHIKODE: A quantity of 3.5 KG saffron powder worth around Rs seven lakh was seized while being smuggled from Dubai at Karipur International airport here Monday.
The powder was found in seven pouches of 500 gram each kept inside the baggage one Abdul Rashid, a native of Chengala near Kasargod, as he landed here by Air India Express flight from Dubai, Deputy Commissioner of Air Customs P C Scaria said.
The saffron powder, having high medicinal value, was handed over to the Customs office here, he said.
