Amateur drama awards announced

KOCHI: Yakshikkathakalum Naattuvarthamanangalum won the best drama award and Makkalkoottam was adjudged the second best at the amateur drama competitions conducted by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi at Valancherry from August 1 to 6.

At a press conference here on Saturday, Mukesh, actor, who is the Chairman of the akademi, said the best drama, presented by Suvarna Theatres, Valayanchirangara, Ernakulam, also won for its director, K. Vinod Kumar, the best playwright award and Surabhi C.M the best actor (female) award.

Makkalkoottam, directed by Pramod Payyannoor and presented by Prakash Kalakendram, Neeravil, Kollam, won the second best actor awards for Rajesh Sharma and Sreeranjini.

C.R. Rajan was selected the best actor (male) for his role in Nrutham.

The second best playwright award went to Mehamood Parassinikkadavu for Muhammadali Eesa Thakroni Adhava Oru Jeevithanatakam.

C.V. Sudhi won the best director award for Anungalillatha Pennungal. Asokan Kathiroor, director of Athmavinte Idanaazhi, won the second prize
