THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Large quantities of rice and sugar were seized from two shops at Kaniyapuram in raids conducted by revenue officials on Saturday.
A pressnote issued by Taluk Supply Officer B. Vijayakumar said 6,641 kg of rice and 1,150 kg of sugar were seized from the Aiswarya Supermarket and the Margin Free Kaniyapuram which were operating without a licence. Raids were held in 15 shops in the Kaniyapuram and Kazhakuttam areas by a team of revenue officials led by the taluk supply officer. The raids were conducted as part of the activities of the Onam Monitoring Cell.
