Chullikkad lauds film as a powerful political satire

Thiruvananthapuram: The movie Sakudumbam Shyamala is, perhaps, the best political satire in Malayalam to have come on screen after Panchavadippaalam in 1984, directed by K.G. George, Balachandran Chullikkad, poet and actor, said here on Monday.

Mr. Chullikkad, in the cast of the movie, was addressing a press conference here on Monday, along with its director, Radhakrishnan Mangalath, and scriptwriter, Krishna Poojappura.

Mr. Mangalaths debut movie has Urvashi in the central role as Shyamala, a foolish yet ambitious housewife, whose unexpected tryst with politics and the power that comes with it forms the focal point of the film. Mr. Chullikkads portrayal of a straightforward and uncompromising comrade in the film has come in for much appreciation.
