KOCHI: Fisheries Minister S. Sarma said on Monday that the government has initiated steps to implement the Rs. 10 crore package for revamping 10 fisheries and technical schools in the State.
In his address on the occasion of the distribution of educational and sports awards instituted by the State Fishermen Welfare Board here, he said that the assistance is part of the total Rs. 38 crore allotted to the Fisheries department under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.
The Minister said that the fund will be used for renovating the 10 technical and fisheries schools in the State. He said that the government will also consider stepping up the daily food allowance for students in fisheries and technical schools. Mr. Sarma said that he will discuss the issue with Finance Minister T. M. Thomas Isaac and take necessary steps to hike the assistance.
